Broward County Public Schools Offers All Students Inspiration and Kidspiration as Cross-Curricular Instructional Tools

Nation's Sixth Largest School District Participates in Inspiration Software's Comprehensive Licensing Program

ORLANDO, FL — Jan. 26, 2005
Today at the Florida Educational Technology Conference, Inspiration Software® announced that Broward County Public Schools will offer all students and teachers access to the visual learning software programs Inspiration® and Kidspiration® through the company's comprehensive licensing program. This volume licensing program provides the south Florida school district with a cost-effective way to ensure that Inspiration and Kidspiration are available for learning across the curriculum along with the confidence that all copies are properly licensed.

As the nation's sixth largest — and largest fully accredited — school district, Broward County Public Schools serves more than 270,000 K-12 students in more than 250 schools. Momentum for using Inspiration to support teaching and learning at Broward Public Schools began nearly 10 years ago and continued to grow with the 2001 launch of Kidspiration.

"With visual learning software available on all computers in all schools, Broward County students will now be able to use concept mapping and other graphic organizers to learn and build literacy skills across the curriculum," said Dr. Jeanine Gendron, director, Customer Staff Development Services, Broward County Public Schools. "We were able to offer this district-wide access to Inspiration and Kidspiration because the licensing program is designed to meet the unique purchasing and technology management needs of large school districts."

Broward County Public Schools worked with Inspiration Software to make a good faith estimate of the number of instructional computers in the district. Current licenses were taken into account when the pricing was determined. And because the comprehensive licensing program is reviewed and adjusted for new computers annually, the school district now places only one order with Inspiration Software per year — saving valuable time that previously might have been spent getting approval for and processing multiple orders throughout the school year.

"It is exciting to add another leading school district, such as Broward County Public Schools, to the growing list participating in our comprehensive licensing program," said Mona Westhaver, president and co-founder, Inspiration Software. "We designed the program so that it would provide school districts with the maximum value so that they can afford to offer access to and effectively manage our software throughout their districts."

Broward County Public Schools joins more than 25 other school districts taking advantage of Inspiration Software's comprehensive licensing including Anne Arundel County Public Schools (Maryland), Boston Public Schools, Flint Community Schools (Flint, Mich.), Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District (Bedford, Texas) and the School District of Philadelphia.
