Kidspiration 3 Wins 2009 Software & Information Industry CODiE Award

Prestigious Software Industry Award Marks 13th Honor for Inspiration Software’s Visual Learning Tool for Young Learners

PORTLAND, Ore. – May 11, 2009 – Kidspiration 3 has added the prestigious Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award to its growing list of honors and accolades. The visual learning software for grades K-5 is the winner of the award for Best Instructional Solution in Other Curriculum Areas in the 2009 program honoring outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital information and education technology industries.

This year’s CODiE Awards winners were selected from more than 850 nominations submitted by 600 companies. A panel of expert judges narrowed the field to 345 finalists from which the 2009 CODiE winners were chosen.
Kidspiration 3 supports students in kindergarten through fifth grade as they strengthen reading and writing skills, build conceptual understanding in math and develop thinking skills across the curriculum. The CODiE Award marks the 13th honor across the education, parenting and technology communities for Kidspiration 3 since its launch in early 2008.

“Kidspiration 3 truly represents more than two decades of experience working with educators to develop visual learning tools that students use to develop critical thinking skills,” said Mona Westhaver, president and co-founder, Inspiration Software. “We are proud to have our visual learning software for young learners honored for innovation by the technology industry, and we are even prouder of the creative ways that teachers are using it with their students every day in classrooms around the world.”

In reading and writing, Kidspiration supports students as they think creatively and organize ideas to write, comprehend and communicate successfully. With the new visual math tools in Kidspiration 3, students build a strong mathematical foundation for reasoning and problem-solving by using visual representations to understand math concepts. Across the curriculum, they express and communicate their thinking with pictures, words and numbers.
