Description :

Silver Star winner Sherri Miller, instructional technology resource teacher, Gloucester County Public Schools, Gloucester, Va., works closely with her school’s teachers and students to integrate both Inspiration and Kidspiration into teaching and learning. Students use Kidspiration to learn about the water cycle by adding the vocabulary terms to the diagram and sequence the steps in order. The sorting animals example required students to sort the animal traits into mammals, amphibians, insects and oddballs.

Whether she is teaching math or language arts, Silver Star winner Michelle O'Brien, fifth grade teacher, Mary Eyre Elementary School, Salem-Keizer School District, Salem, Ore., relies on both Inspiration and Kidspiration to help her fifth grade students understand complex topics and communicate their ideas clearly. The “My 5 Senses” samples were part of a unit of study on word choice and how it can paint a picture in the reader's mind if done right. The kindergarteners in Silver Star winner Jennifer Frederick’s class at Fairview Elementary School, Lake Charles, La., learn with Kidspiration every day. Frederick uses visual learning to support reading and math instruction and to keep children on track to master the Louisiana learning goals. Her students have to create a bubble map of at least five pictures that begin with the sound of the week. The students then record themselves saying the pictures names. human service degree AND political science school
