Students will participate in a discussion on wealth and examine what that word means to them. This activity is best used with a lesson plan involving more discussion on how their concept of wealth compares to that of other countries.
The rationale behind this lesson plan is to not only meet several voluntary state curricular mandates but also teach children about other cultures outside of the one they live in now. The hope is that they will see many similarities in other cultures, as well as evaluate the true meaning of wealth. This lesson plan will touch on sources that might influence our perception of wealth (i.e. media outlets, government, etc), and evaluate the implications of such.
