
Middle school and high school students will use InspireData to meet standards in data collection, data representation and data interpretation. This database contains data collected using the WeatherHawk weather station located at Inspiration Software’s home office in Beaverton, Oregon. Recordings taken from 3/21/08 through 5/22/2008 were imported into InspireData and the 5:00pm collection reading for each day was compiled into one database. Have students use the included database to create a plot to answer each question below. Plots in the attached file are an exemplar for the questions below.
QUESTIONS:
-How many days had a barometric pressure of 29.9 in Hg? What is the mean barometric pressure?
-Is there a correlation between humidity and average air temperature?
-How does average air temperature and humidity affect solar average?
-How many days had temperatures under 47 degrees Fahrenheit and over 10 mph wind speeds?
-How many days had temperatures over 90 degrees Fahrenheit and a solar average over 610 kJ per meter squared?
-Between March and May, were there any unusually hot or cold periods of time? If so, what was the humidity like during these times?
