Description :

This versatile InspireData Halloween survey activity can be used with students in grades 4-12. Adjust the focus of the activity to meet grade level and curricular needs. The attached file provides sample data and slides (with questions for students), as well as a database template to jump-start data collection with the Survey/e-Survey. Completion of the e-Survey can be assigned as homework, so that you are ready for data analysis when class begins.

The survey contains questions that will yield categorical and numerical data, allowing you to teach a variety of topics across the grade levels. Have students analyze the data using a variety of plots and statistical measures, or focus on one concept specific to the course you are teaching.

Concepts that can be taught with the Halloween Survey:
• Learn about Pie plots and percent
• Describe data distributions with Stack plots or Bar charts
• Analyze single and multiple Box plots
• Use Venn plots to learn about probability
• Compare mean and median with Stack plots or Bar charts

This activity was created using InspireData 1.5, which must be installed to open the file. Download a 30-day free trial at href="http://www.inspiration.com/freetrial">www.inspiration.com/freetrial or if you have InspireData 1.0, download a complementary upgrade.
