Immigration is a topic receiving considerable attention today, but how does it compare to U.S immigration in the past? In this InspireData lesson students will research the waves of immigration to the U.S. from the 19th century to the present. Using historical immigration data and other resources, students will gather information on the total influx of immigrants from different continents and evaluate the changes over time.
Students will use InspireData™ to analyze the patterns and trends and synthesize their conclusions within a historical context. Current data from Florida--as well as Broward and Miami-Dade counties--will also be analyzed so Florida students have a better understanding of immigration patterns in their own state and local community. If desired, data from other states and counties can be researched and added to the database.
This activity was created using InspireData 1.5, which must be installed to open the file(s). Download a 30-day free trial at www.inspiration.com/freetrial or if you have InspireData 1.0, download a complementary upgrade.
