At the beginning of each year teachers have students write about what they did over the summer. This example was adapted from a writing workshop I went you a year ago. Students can pick a specific number of topics to write notes about or choose them all depending on the teacher's expectations. For each topic the student will write notes about something personal related to them. Their ideas are only limited by their imagination! We also add a digital picture of each child for the Main Idea symbol.
