Description :

Students can use this Inspiration template to compare two political candidates, such as those running for president of the United States. There are areas for students to compare the candidates' campaign strategies and themes, the candidates' views on important issues, and their backgrounds, political obstacles and achievements. Students are also asked to conclude the activity with an overall analysis of the candidates.

Students can conduct research on the candidate's views in the 2008 presidential election using sources such as the following:

http://www.2008electionprocon.org

http://www.issue2008.com

http://www.votehelp.org

http://politics.nytimes.com/election-guide/2008/issues/index.html

For a template that focuses specifically on the leading candidates for president in 2008, see Quest for the White House 2008: McCain and Obama. Students can also vote on the candidates in a mock presidential election.
This activity was created using Inspiration 8. Download a 30-day free trial at www.inspiration.com/freetrial
A video demonstrating how to use this template in the classroom can be found on the ILC.
