Description :

This Inspiration template and exemplar can be used to help integrate primary source photographs into your social studies or language arts classroom, or virtually any other curricular area. Dr. Richard Wyman of the California University of Pennsylvania stated during a session at the National Council for the Social Studies annual conference in 2006 that research indicates that analyzing photographs engages students and helps them “improve analytical and perceptual skills,” “distinguish between fact and opinion,” “realize the value of historical photographs as primary sources of historical information” and “understand the importance of the photographer's influence and point of view on the finished photograph.”

In addition to a student template and exemplar, a document with links to primary resources available online is also included; please note that Inspiration files like this one can also be exported as web pages. Please also see the Primary Document and Political Cartoon Analysis Organizers posted separately and I hope you and your students enjoy these priceless resources!
