
This activity can be used in the introductory stage of a tessellations unit.
1. Brainstorm places geometric patterns can be found
2. Break the list into two categories, those found in nature and those that are man-made.
3. Begin as a brainstorming session using the rapid fire mode, follow-up with students creating a visual presentation of either natural or man-made patterns using digital images they find on the Internet, in clip art collections, scan from their own drawings, or digital photographs they take themselves using the class camera.
