Happy Earth Day, readers!
As we all reflect and act on ways to improve our natural environment, teachers are faced with the challenge of helping young people understand the importance of conservation.
If you’re an educator and struggling to find ways to get kids actively engaged in Earth Day, why not try an idea submitted to our Inspired Learning Community? This original template comes from Laurie Walsh, a teacher versed in many subjects:
Laurie provided this description of her template upon uploading it into our Inspired Learning Community:
“I used this writing guide with two PowerPoint projects, but it can be a standalone project to get kids thinking and writing about being environmentally conscientious. Using this Inspiration template, students were asked to write a title and short paragraph explaining what they would commit to doing to help protect the Earth. This information was later transferred to a PowerPoint slide and then printed as a poster.
In the other project, the students were asked to prepare the writing for an eleven-page booklet with a title page and subsequent pages stating ten ways to save the Earth. (This project was also later transferred to eleven PowerPoint slides and printed in a small slide format to be transformed into a little booklet.) This Inspiration document served as the prewriting phase of each project. I had the students use it in the’Outline’ mode.”
Achieving sustainability takes time and prolonged effort, but coming up with lesson plans shouldn’t. Find this template and more over at the Inspired Learning Community!

Very cool way to get kids involved in earth day celebration using technological resources. Kids can always go out and plant a tree, but you can’t do that every year (I mean, you could, but this is more creative and actually get them thinking critically). A little intentional thinking goes a long way.
Its a good idea to involve kids in earth day celebrations. They must know what happening with their resources and they prevention steps they need to obeyed to prevent their earth from being polluted or erosion. It is responsible of every individual to create awareness among the kids. The way you approached is innovative and commendable.
