On our website, we talk about how Webspiration Classroom™ service can improve the student-teacher work flow. In Webspiration Classroom, you can create assignments to post or distribute to your students. So today I’m going to talk about the specific tools in Webspiration Classroom that can help you achieve this and truly improve the way you plan your lessons and manage assignments.
Create a Visual Diagram or Graphic Organizer
In a past post on Thinkspiration™ titled “Begin With the End in Mind: Purposeful Visual Learning,” Mona Westhaver talked about choosing the correct visual learning diagram or graphic organizer for a lesson. You’ll want to start your planning with the right strategic tool for the desired skill you wish to teach. Once you’ve created a diagram or chosen a template from our more than 50 Starter Docs, you’re ready to post or distribute an assignment.
Post Assignments
Posting assignments is a quick and easy way to make any homework or in-class assignment available to your students. You can also share assignments with another teacher this way. In addition, other teachers in your Webspiration Classroom School can have their students utilize your posted assignments. This may be helpful if you have a group of students that work with multiple teachers. Posting assignments also encourages students to take the initiative and responsibility to retrieve their classroom work.
Follow these quick steps to post an assignment:
- Select “Post Assignments” under “Assignments” in the top menu.

- Name your assignment and click “Rename.”

- Create a description and click “Post.”

Once you’ve posted an assignment, it will be available to all students in your Webspiration Classroom School. Instruct your students to do the following to retrieve the assignment:
- Go to the Webspiration Classroom Document Manager.
- Click on “Starter Docs” in the left tab.
- Open the “Assignments” folder.
- Go to the your teacher folder.
- Click on the assignment and open.
Distribute Assignments
Let’s say you want to send an assignment to a specific group of students or prefer to notify your class when an assignment is ready. You can do this with these quick steps:
- Select “Distribute Assignment” under “Assignments” in the top menu.

- Enter the student user name + Org ID or email address.

TIP: Create a Group out of your Friends List in Webspiration Classroom to easily distribute assignments to your entire class. To create a Group, select “Manage Friends,” then “Groups…” from the “Sharing” menu, and then enter either the student user name or email address for each student. Then, when you go to distribute an assignment, you can simply enter the Group rather than each students’ user name or email address.
Create School Templates
Another way to share documents with students and other faculty members is by creating schools templates. This is especially helpful when you’re using documents or a standard format on a regular basis.
To create a school template, follow the instructions below:
- Open or create a document.
- Select “Tools” and “Make Template.”

- Name and describe your template and select the “School” button.

To access this template follow the instructions below:
- Go to your Document Manager.
- Select the “Starter Docs” tab.
- Open the “Templates” folder for your school.
- Open your template.
